No colorful post tonight...I'll get right to the point.

The streams got plenty of water for a solid run on 10/31/09.  If you're heading up for this coming weekend it should be decent fishing.  You'll definitely need some weight to get your fly/eggs through the damn leaves though.  It's a catch 22; need a hard rain for a good run, but the rain also causes a lot of debris this time of year.

I headed to Erie today, 11/4, and had mixed results.

Water was LOW and CLEAR! You would never guess they got some much rain this past weekend. I started at 20 mile, one of my favorites. PACKED!
16 cars in my spot!!!! I can handle fishing with people, and will gladly share (demonstrated by the info in my posts) but I could not bring myself to stop the truck. Off to find a new spot...

Stopped at 7 mile due to 1 vehicle at 5. Walked in (walk in fishing only. Have to park on Rt 5), and was rewarded with a hole loaded with steelhead. Water was VERY VERY low and clear, and made the fishing a little tough for how many were in there. I hooked up quick on an egg sac, but just a smaller 20 inch fish. A few more casts, another fish, but lost. A few more casts, a big male landed. Going to be a good day.... then 3 guys walk in, and two decide to fish the head of the falls. I can share, but... another solo fisherman stops, and ANOTHER! Now 5 or 6 fishing a hole the size of a F150. I helped a guy into the spot. A few were caught on minnows by the guys there, and I went walking. Not many fish in the stream, but I found a few to play with in some odd waters that everyone walks past. Fish on again on the famous sac attack! Nice female.

I decided to run a few errands that needed to be done, and headed towards Elk. Checked out the McKean area, which is high on Elk, around Interstate 79. A few cars at the pull off, and a few more at the gas pipe and Fish Commission parking. I headed upstream.  A few fish found, not great numbers, but lighter pressure, and did manage a big fish hooked up. I was looking at other fish, cause the holes were deep green, and hard to see fish. I was getting ready to focus on the other fish when the big one hit, and I was flat footed. A short 10 second fight, and gone. A nice fish, darker, like most seen.

Ended the day with just a few fish, but did cover some water, and attempted to get away from some crowds. Here are two fish, and a pic of one of the falls at 7 mile,

"Reel" nice fish!   Sounds like a pretty awsome day!  Thumps Up Brotha! I'd like to try those Steelheads (Hooked to a livebait rig for muskies) EEEK!  Just kidding!  I used to travel to Erie 3 and 4 days a week for those Big Trout!  There like casting onto a moving train!  HANG ON! :superpumped:

I made the trip to Elk Creek this morning. Weather was kinda goofy, rain-sunny-rain-sleet-snow. I guess that is typical for the time and place. I fished from 8a-11a by Uncle John's. caught 2 in the first half hour(gold stonefly) and I thought to myself "It's gonna be a good day". Needless to say those early 2 ended up being all I caught. Around noon I decided to venture more East to check out some spots, but I could not find any fish. I went back to lower Elk in the afternoon. Saw a few guys carrying around some really nice fish (They were up in Rt5 tubes)    Anyway water is still very low and clear. Fish were scattered from mouth to Rt5 tubes. I took some pics with my cell phone.

Rye, I saw alot of cars parked near high tressle on Elk. When I was up by McKean there were alot of cars parked at Rick Run p-lot. I guess that with all the cars at Rick Run, there must be some fish up there.
